A Train of Opinions (from the Last Samurai)

"I think a man does all he can, until his destiny is revealed." Nathan

I'm neither a fan of war movies nor of Tom Cruise, but I love the movie 'The Last Samurai'. (I have not watched the movie until yesterday.) The movie had perfectly showed the ugliness of war and the corruption that ruled those people in power. Yet, what I love about the movie is - how manhood was depicted by the two main characters of the story - Katsumoto and Nathan. I admired three qualities displayed by these two characters and I think that real men should adopt these characteristics.

A real man is:

(1) Honorable. He is a person who will not compromise his honor for the sake of material benefits or physical/emotional satisfaction. He has self-control and will keep his promises no matter what it will cost him.You can always count on him to do what is right even on bleak circumstances.

(2) Righteous. He will not tolerate wrong things and will not take part on evil plans. He values his family, friends, neighbors and even his enemies - the same way he values himself. He is simply fair and always forgiving.

(3) Valiant [Warrior]. He knows what and for whom he is living/fighting for. He is willing to pay the price to fight for his ideals and for the people he cares. He will never give up or give in to any pressure or trial.

In today's culture, I may sound idealistic and a believer of "to-good-to-be-true" stories, but I do believe that every normal male desires to be considered a real man. Though, only a few are willing to pay the price. [And those who are willing are always those who are obeying/serving God - the one and only Emperor of all emperors.]

2 Timothy 1:7 (NIV) He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time
