The reason why the Israelite leaders of Moses' generation had fallen short of faith was that they were so wrapped up by the culture of the Egyptians. When they were tested, they demanded more and more from Moses because they do not personally know God. What a pity. They could have experienced the peace Moses experienced if they had the humble heart of Moses. Yet, they acted based on their 5-senses and that made them fall.
Woe to those who keep on doing things their way even if they were warned again and again.
Woe to those who keep on demanding meat from Moses.
Woe to those who had blinded their eyes.
Woe to those who chose not to hear.
Woe to those who keep on rebelling against the good God.
Do they think they are hurting God? No, they are only hurting themselves.
If God had asked Samuel to let go of Saul, He would do that too to those who keep on going on their own ways. And if you think you are one of the faithful ones of God, check your heart. God sees the heart.
When enough is enough, it is more than enough. God will act on the behalf of His humble servants.
