The Heart of Jesus

Ok, so, you've been a devote believer of God for almost all of your life.

Can you tell me about the heart of Jesus? Why did he allow himself to suffer what he had suffered? How about his personality? Is he a giver or a taker? Did he tolerate sinners or did he turn their lives around?

If I were asked these questions a month ago I wonder if ever I would have the answers right. I'm glad nobody asked me those questions yet. However, now, I realized how real the love of God is through Jesus.

God is just a relentless lover of all his children - both the good and the wayward ones.

Jesus is such a wonderful, perfect shepherd for all his sheep. Gosh, should Jesus' wandering sheep only know the heart of Jesus, would they even wander for long?

What causes Jesus' sheep to wander anyway?

The flesh (selfish desires and motives), the world (what the world value the most - power, position, possession, and pleasures), and the evil spiritual forces (Satan  and his minions waging war against the children of God - throwing craps/lies to their minds and deceiving their hearts to obey him rather than God). Sounds heavy?

Anyways, going back to Jesus' love. His love is demonstrated in all the writings about him, but, for me the most perfect example would be the two parables:

The Parable of the Lost Sheep (Matthew 18:10-14) ; and

The Parable of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15: 11-32)

The truth is all of us lost our way one time or another. None of us ever walked a perfect straight path. Even the kindest, even the meekest, even servants of the Lord are of no exemption to sin. We, believers, can justify to ourselves that our sin - is just trivial, or is only a reactionary sin to the wrongs done to us - but, the fact is that trivial or reactionary sin still keep us away from God's peace and his best for our lives. You never realized it, but, that little sin keeps you drifting away from God's presence - though outwardly you may have not forgotten your Christian duties.

The farther we go away from God the darker and heavier our inner lives seem to be, the more bruises we suffer - heartaches multiply, and a thousand doubts and negative thoughts enter our minds unceasingly - OR in short the more oppressive the demons we let in our lives become.

The farther we are from God the farther we are from fulfilling our amazing God-given purposes. (Like, you should be using your tongue to edify fellow believers, but, you let envy reign and spread gossip instead. Like, you should be using your position to bring people under your authority to Christ, but, your lifestyle or attitude toward them turned them off to Christianity.)

That's why Jesus passionately look for his one lost sheep. He knows the 99 others are safe inside the pen. The one that is wandering is harrassed, broken and oppressed - beyond self-help.

That's why the Father throws a party for the wayward son that came back home after wasting all his inheritance to reckless living. His Father loves him the same - not a bit of his disobedience lessen his Father's love.

God loves all his children - inside the pen or those wandering. Nothing would stop him from gathering them to become just one flock except the evil one and the evil one's children. (Why oppose a good one if you are not an evil one? Why would you cause harm to the innocent if you are really not an evil one? Why would you keep someone from seeking God's light if you are really not one of the children of darkness?)

So, really, if you are God's child you would hear Jesus' voice calling out your name. Believe me, Jesus never wanted you harrased, nor even oppressed, nor broken. (Unlike, your demons who laugh and rejoice at your inner sufferings and how they deceived you from doing the things your spirit really detest.)

Sister, brother,  Jesus is just one prayer away. He never would drive away a truly repentant soul. Know his heart and you'll know your name is written on it.
