Speak or Forever Hold Your Peace

It is actually an age old saying before a priest concludes a marriage ceremony. Nah, not trying to rouse any emotions here for people, but, really to make a point that God is a jealous God, and a faithful lover.

When He chose Israel as His bride, He see to it that He did His part. He fulfilled every promise He spoke.

It was Israel who had been unfaithful. They had worshiped other gods. They lost their love for God and because of their stubbornness God let them experience His wrath for a time. Yet, in God's faithfulness, He spoke (and continuously speaks in fact). He sees to it that Israel will never be married to no-gods.

Centuries after the time of the apostles (of Jesus), the Christian church had gone such prominence that their leaders had forgotten to guard themselves against the things that Jesus warned His apostles of (any kind of greed, of the yeast of the Pharisees, and the yeast of Herod). Yet, again and again God had raised up His voice through the Reformers - men and women of God who care less of what their peers think of them.

Watch out then, if as a worker of God, you are trying to prove yourself to people. You got nothing to prove to people, for if your heart is truly inclined to serving God, His approval is enough to get you through a difficult season. Even through the season of persecution and wrong accusations. Oh, there is one more difficult season, it is the season where men and women think highly of you. It's the real test of character.
